In order to contribute to responsible leather production around the world, AIGNER has been an active member of Leather Working Group (LWG) since April 2022. The international non-profit organisation has developed a screening process with which it tests leather manufacturing companies for their environmental compatibility and certifies them accordingly. Every leather manufacturing factory that is certified by LWG has to comply with strict standards. Water and energy consumption, the handling of waste and waste water, air and noise emissions, the origin of materials as well as working conditions (health, safety, social responsibility) in the factory, and the handling of chemicals in leather production are checked. AIGNER currently uses more than 80% LWG gold certified leather for the production of bags and leather accessories and ensures that all new developments are certified accordingly.
